World No. 3 Alexander Zverev (Germany) said the plane he boarded while heading to Paris to participate in the French Open suffered lightning damage.

According to foreign media TMTSports, Zverev, who participated in the Hamburg Open in Germany as a prelude to the French Open, boarded a flight from Hamburg to Paris on the 22nd after the tournament.

"It was a 6:45 p.m. departure flight on Thursday evening. I was riding with Rehetska, Nakashima, and the players competing in doubles, and I was struck by lightning." 메이저사이트

"I had to make an emergency landing in Hamburg and I arrived in Paris around 3 a.m. on another flight. The others left the next morning, unable to find an alternative flight."

It's heart-wrenching just to imagine, but Zverev seems to think nothing of it.
"It was a very interesting journey. It was the first time I had been struck by lightning in the sky, and there was only a brief sound, no shaking, no matter what."

"This was the beginning of my (French Open) journey. For now, it's the best thing to do at the French Open."

Zverev, who experienced a rare incident during this trip, will face world No. 67 Lanertien of the U.S. in the first round of the French Open. Tien is a 19-year-old who made his professional debut in 2023, having beaten Zverev 2-0 in Acapulco in February.
